Founded in 2003 in beautiful southern Utah, Clarkson & Associates (formerly Clarkson & Draper) has established itself as one of the premier full-service civil law firms in the area. The attorneys and staff at Clarkson & Associates are dedicated to providing effective, results-oriented representation with an emphasis on personal attention. Background and Experience
Barry E. Clarkson is a founding member and the current managing attorney of Clarkson & Associates, LLC. Mr. Clarkson focuses on complex business and real estate transactions as well as estate planning with local, national and international clients through offices in St. George, Utah, and Mesquite, Nevada.
Mr. Clarkson received his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law (1997) after earning his BA in Spanish and MA in Languages and Literature from the University of Utah (1991, 1994). Mr. Clarkson is licensed to practice law in Nevada (1997), Utah (1998), and Arizona (2015). While working towards his JD, Mr. Clarkson was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Bancroft-Whitney Award for Excellence in Contracts and the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for Scholastic Excellence in Contracts. Mr. Clarkson is honored to have an AV Preeminent Peer Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and Lawyers.com.
Mr. Clarkson is an active community member. Serving on multiple boards in local healthcare, higher education, and charitable organizations.

Background and Experience
Matthew D. Spring is an attorney with Clarkson & Associates, LLC.
Mr. Spring has a wide range of expertise, with a focus on probate, commercial and civil litigation, real estate law, business law, contract drafting, estate planning, and business entity formation.
Mr. Spring earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009. He received a Bachelor of Arts, English, from Brigham Young University in 2004. During his time in law school, Mr. Spring was an intern in the United States District Court, District of Nevada, with the Honorable Judge Robert C. Jones. Mr. Spring is trained as a mediator and volunteered for two years with the Neighborhood Justice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Spring is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts in Nevada (2009) and Utah (2012).

Mr. Spring is married with four children and enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with his family. Mr. Spring also speaks Spanish.

Background and Experience
Prior to becoming an attorney, Sam helped run a multi-million dollar real estate investment company and property management company where he gained firsthand experience in real estate transactions as a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant and much more. Sam has experience with a wide range of legal matters such as: hospitality law, real estate transaction, business transactional law, immigration law, civil/commercial litigation, debt collection actions, contract drafting, estate planning, business entity formations, and small claims actions. Sam’s unique background brings a different aspect to the legal world. His experience greatly helps aid his client in their legal needs.
During law school, Sam volunteered and helped indigenous people in Orange County, California he was able to successfully help many people with their legal issues thru the help of the law school’s free legal clinic. During Administration changes, he helped lead a group of law students in the school’s immigration clinic provide consultations and free legal services, and helped them understand new administration policies.
Sam was born and raised in St. George, Utah. Graduating from Dixie High School and Dixie College. Sam is currently married with plans to have children in the near future. Sam wishes to practice his professional career in Southern Utah, and along with being an attorney, Sam still helps run a family business and is no stranger to hard work. Sam enjoys reading books, spending time with family, hiking, and giving back to the community.

Background and Experience
Scott B. Beckstrom is an attorney with Clarkson & Associates, LLC.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Beckstrom worked for a community bank for five years where he helped with financial transactions, business development, credit analyzation, and community outreach. He has experience with business transactional law, estate planning, contract drafting, business entity formation, small claims actions, and civil/commercial litigation.
Mr. Beckstrom’s family has been in St. George for five generations and he is excited to return to St. George after being raised in Boise, Idaho. He enjoys the Southern Utah outdoors, spending time with family, and coaching local youth sports.
Michelle Heinz
